Fusion Council News from OAUG

FusionTips

Wondering what Oracle's Fusion really is?  Do you suspect that maybe the Fusion Apps are really just the next release of Oracle's E-Business Suite?  What is the impact of Oracle’s announcement of indefinite support of JD Edwards World/EnterpriseOne, Siebel, PeopleSoft and Oracle’s own E-Business Suite (including fixes, enhancements, and new releases)?

How are JD Edwards and PeopleSoft clients going to eventually migrate to Fusion?  When will the majority of migrations take place? What role will Fusion Middleware play in all this?  How will Fusion beat back SAP's Netweaver?  (And by the way, why was there an SAP booth demoing Netweaver at the Oracle OAUG conference in April, 2006.)

These are all questions that we have as well.  Klee Associates has been active in the ERP marketplace since 2000, when we started publishing the JDEtips Journal.  Six years later we have 700 client companies subscribing to JDEtips, SAPtips and ORAtips.  In addition to the advanced tips and techniques published in our Journals, we provide Mastery-Level training and consulting services.  FusionTips is our way of trying to stay ahead of, or at least abreast of, the coming Fusion tsunami.

When you feel like you are drowning in an ocean of propaganda and marketing fluff, FusionTips will be your source of commentary and advice on what is really going on as Oracle goes down this path.  For the latest Fusion updates, click here.

FusionTips Journal

We probably won't be publishing a FusionTips Journal for several years.  As Fusion evolves and begins to be pushed out the door, we'll be adding content to both JDEtips and ORAtips on Fusion Middleware and Fusion Applications.  At some point--perhaps in 2010, when there is sufficient critical mass, we will probably create a separate Journal.  But for now, Fusion content will be available to our JD Edwards and Oracle subscribers. The great thing is that we are approaching Fusion from two different directions--the Oracle EBS point of view, and the JD Edwards point of view.

We are neither extremely pro or anti Fusion--we know it will happen, we know it has to, and we know it will not be a seamless transition anytime soon.  We are "professional observers" and we'll be reporting our observations and adding to a library of free Fusion technical materials in the coming year.

Points to Ponder

"...okay, if Fusion is EBS on steroids, do you upgrade, migrate, or re-implement..."
